LANVIN FOR H&M

Today H&M announced the happy news that it’s next design collaboration will be with Lanvin! Artistic director Alber Elbaz and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver designed a collection of both womenswear and menswear, which will be revealed to the world through a special film on November 2. The Lanvin for H&M collection will be available in stores three weeks later. Lanvin is the oldest couture house in France, found in 1889 when 22 year old designer Jeanne Lanvin opened a boutique on Paris’ prestigious rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. Since 2001, the house is under the creative direction of Israeli designer Alber Elbaz, who is known for it’s elegant, powerful and feminine style. Since the introduction of a new menswear line in 2006, Lucas Ossendrijver joined Lanvin as head menswear designer and translated Elbaz’s success to the men’s market.

Jil Sander

Liverpool-born illustrator Richard Kilroy, has been drawing since he was a little boy. He developed his signature style during his teenage years, where he was supported  by artist Dave White. A growing affinity with fashion publications and aspects of the industry further influenced the direction of his work. His work range from abstract minimalist line drawings to detailed realism, typography and photography. He recently launched DECOY Magazine, a newspaper based primarily on fashion illustration and related areas of interest. The premier issue features interviews with Alex Noble and Cédric Rivrain, as well as an ode to Bruno Pieters, both penned and pencilled by Kilroy himself. MAX TAN A/W 2010-11

glamcult

I’ve written about the first collection of designer Max Tan a while ago in Glamcult. ‘Against’ is his second collection and even flawless as the first. In the minimalistic work of the Singapore-based designer forms are blown out of proportion and different shapes are created. The collection for autumn/winter 2010-11 features monochrome colours, sharp lines and draped silhouettes. The designer is always exploring the relationship between the masculine and the feminine, and androgynous model Luth Seah Zhiqiang is typical for the look and feel of the brand. read more…

AIFW – BOUTYQ

Untitled-1

Finally found some time to post an update on AIFW! It’s been crazy and busy the last few days, but lots of fun. On Thuesday Rogier and I were invited to the third edition of Boutyq. Boutyq is a platform that takes place twice a year and invites one national and one international designer to show their designs. Unique is that both designers generally present their collections on fashionweeks abroad. Before each show, a short movie was shown to give a view at the design process and inspiration behind the collection. read more…

TRANSCLASSIC BY RAD HOURANI

radhouranitransclassiccqc01

If you happen to be in Paris the coming month, check out the exhibition ‘Transclassic’ by artist and designer Rad Hourani. The exhibition features film, audio and photographic installations in which Hourani introduces his unisex transformable collection. The fact that the designer choose female models for his exhibition during men’s fashion week, represents the genderless/unisex aspect of his vision. His intention is to give a black and white look at his world, his interests and his vision of a new world; one with no gender, no rules, no seasons, epitomizing the very modern value of freedom, passion and elegance. The exhibition opened yesterday and runs until the 22th of July at Galerie Joyce, Palais Royal. read more…
