I was cleaning up my hard disc when I stumbled upon these vintage Miu Miu ads, from spring/summer 1996. It’s Chloe Sevigny photographed by Juergen Teller. I miss the days when there was no internet around and you still got excited buying a magazine because you had no idea what would be in it. read more…
Today H&M announced the happy news that it’s next design collaboration will be with Lanvin! Artistic director Alber Elbaz and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver designed a collection of both womenswear and menswear, which will be revealed to the world through a special film on November 2. The Lanvin for H&M collection will be available in stores three weeks later. Lanvin is the oldest couture house in France, found in 1889 when 22 year old designer Jeanne Lanvin opened a boutique on Paris’ prestigious rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. Since 2001, the house is under the creative direction of Israeli designer Alber Elbaz, who is known for it’s elegant, powerful and feminine style. Since the introduction of a new menswear line in 2006, Lucas Ossendrijver joined Lanvin as head menswear designer and translated Elbaz’s success to the men’s market.
One of my favorite magazines, Encens, released a new issue: Encens ‘2011′, the annual issue.
Damir Doma once recommended it to us, and gave us the issue with his own interview. For what I remember co-founder of Encens Magazine, fashion editor and publisher Samuel Drira and co-founder Sybille Walter are his friends, and it made me realise that it works the same everywhere!
For all the shoefreaks and Vivienne Westwood fans; Selfridges in London presents the most extensive selection of Westwood’s shoes ever to be showcased in the UK, showing the evolution of her style from 1973 to the present. Nearly 200 shoes, including the Super Elevated Gillie (2th picture below)– known for causing Naomi Campbell’s famous fall on the catwalk in 1993-, will be shown. ‘Shoes must have very high heels and platforms to put women’s beauty on a pedestal,’ said the designer. The exhibition opened last week and runs until 22 September in the Ultralounge, Selfridges London. read more…
Yesterday fashion photographer Corinne Day (1965) passed away after a long battle against cancer. Her anti glamour photography conquered the world in the early nineties and Corinne Day almost single-handedly launched the career of Kate Moss. The epic shoot The 3rd summer of love, styled by Melanie Ward and featuring a sixteen year old Moss, was published in The Face in July 1990 and can be regarded as the beginning of a new era in fashion photography.
