Sticking to animated video’s today. Here a nice, laid back track from Californian band Sonny & the Sunsets. Their debut album Tomorrow is Alright will be released august 30th (after they self released it earlier in the US). Frontman Sonny Smith is a rather fascinating guy. Last spring he launched an art project called 100 records. He made up names and song titles for 100 fictitious bands, then asked 100 different visual artists to make up fake record covers for all the fake musicians. Björk made a song for the Finnish animation film  Moomins and the Comet Chase. The movie is about a comet that will destroy the world (… happy stuff). The song is out on iTunes and if you buy it, your money goes straight to Unicef projects for children in Pakistan.

I bet some of you are going to London’s biggest colour-laden fest of the year, so this post is for you. But what we really want to know about, are the warm-ups and after parties that really hold the juice for some epic partying! So i’ll start with the best warm-up. Urban Nerds is expected to be good, not only cause it runs from 9.00 pm – 5.30 in the morning, but also cause it’s on a secret location in Shoreditch like last years warehouse rave. For afterpartying go to E.T.A. Their parties promise a great crowd, cheap drinks and a sound system where true clubbers dream of. With live sets of  Staton Warriors, Lazersonic and Gold Fish, there’s not much reason to say no to this one! Hope this helps to make your weekend booming.

My favorite song of the moment is Summer Camp’s Round the Moon. The video is quite nice as well, showing images from the Swedish movie A Swedish Love Story (1970). Round the Moon can be found on the band’s forthcoming Young EP, which will be out next month on Moshi Moshi.

Wie Benidorm Bastards nog niet kent, zal er binnen zeer korte tijd wel mee geconfronteerd worden. Het Vlaamse candid camera programma, met bejaarden in de hoofdrol, is namelijk een wereldwijde hit. Het programma op zich is wel aardig maar veel interessanter is de soundtrack. De regisseur van Benidorm Bastards vroeg namelijk niemand minder dan Tim Vanhamel (van o.a. Millionaire) om een soundtrack te schrijven voor het programma. Zoiets kan dan weer wel in België en is onmogelijk in ons benauwde landje. Hier hadden ze namelijk waarschijnlijk iemand als Jan Smit gevraagd voor de soundtrack. Tim Vanhamel vroeg op zijn beurt weer Pascal Deweze (van o.a. Metal Molly) en de Broken Glass Heroes waren geboren. Single Let’s Not Fall Apart is een hit in België. Wanneer je Benidorm Bastards kijkt wordt je meer en meer nieuwsgierig naar het aankomende (duidelijk op de sixties geinspireerde) album. Zaterdag staan de heren met band op Pukkelpop.

Iceland has had its ash and cash issues in the past years, which has given the country a bit of a not so good reputation. If I could decide on what should be booming business for Iceland, it will be their delicious spring water and of course its vibrant music scene. Earlier this year I gave Feldberg a mention. I would now like to give Ólöf Arnalds a deserved mention. This young lady has been active in the Icelandic music scene for years. I find it just incredible that there is so much musical talent in a country with a population of 300.000, which is the same as Utrecht (city).
