If you happen to be in New York City between now and the 19th of September, I highly recommend visiting Rivane Neuenschwander’s A Day Like Any Other exhibition at the New Museum. Covering a decade of her work, the exhibition shows how Neuenschwander (Brazil, 1967) merges photography, film, painting, sculpture, installation and collaborative actions. Neuenschwander often asks visitors to participate in her exhibitions. For the installation First Love, a police sketch artist will sit with visitors and draw portraits of their first love as they describe them to him. All the drawings will be shown on the walls of the museum for the duration of A Day Like Any Other. read more…
Amazing work by British artist Kate MccGwire. She uses feathers from birds and transforms them into very powerful, somewhat scary sculptures. This work is showing at the Tatton Park Biennial and is called Evacuate. It’s a site specific installation in the kitchens of the mansion at Tatton park and consists of mallard, goose, peacock, pheasant, teal, woodcock, woodpigeon, quail, grouse, french partridge, turkey & chicken feathers. All these birds were at one point cooked in the ovens here. MccGwire collected thousands of feathers and created a new creature (out for revenge?). read more…
Hereby I would like to introduce the amazing and wonderful Louise te Poele. I would like to show her work to you because her work on the one hand consists of amazing fashion photography and the other hand beautiful and carefully created Art photographs. With her art work she photographs the people she grew up with in a small town in the east of the Netherlands. Its very well explained on her website so I’m not going to try and make that any better; Louise te Poele uses the medium of photography. Her sculptures rise from her fascination with the depiction of humans.
ARCAM, Ontfront (Liza Koifman & Tomas Overtoom) and V2A architectuur & stedebouw (Wouter Valkenier) have challenged four duos – each comprising a fashion designer and an architect who have teamed up specially for the occasion – to enter into a design process. The results you can see at ARCAM this summer. read more…

In Taiwan the first ever Hello Kitty-themed maternity hospital has opened it’s doors!! Director Tsai Tsung-chi of the Hau Sheng Hospital in Yuanlin: “I wish that everyone who comes here, mothers who suffer while giving birth and children who suffer from an illness, can get medical care while seeing these kitties and bring a smile to their faces, helping forget about discomfort and recover faster.” Hmmmm, very curious if this works! It might just completely freak you out! read more…
