CAMPER × ISSEY MIYAKE

Launching their first collaborative footwear collection ‘Peu Form’ at Glamcult Store

Issey Miyake and Camper cross paths in their first footwear collaboration, and it’s perfect for those in favour of the delicate touches of minimalism. ‘Peu Form’ seems sculpted in the gentle sway of water, fluid in its ridges, organic in its draping. Designed by Satoshi Kondo, Issey Miyake’s creative lead, alongside Camper’s own, Achilles Ion Gabriel, the shoe is a slouchy, pliant but firm Italian leather mule, promising to wrap your feet in a warm, soft embrace. It emanates the iconic origins of the Camper ‘Peu’, a signature silhouette inspired by walking barefoot, all while paying homage to Issey Miyake’s Japanese construction and functional ethos.

The concept is based on Issey Miyake’s experimentation with how a single piece of material can wrap and drape to create something sumptuous yet minimalist.  And we’ve all been there: a wardrobe diagnosed as empty, a piece of fabric lying on the arm of your chair…but in our case, transforming a scrap into a skirt is nearly always followed by an exasperated groan. Issey Miyake and Camper have made attempts like these into an art form. ‘Peu Form’ showcases this concept with its simple (not to be confused with effortless) technique, resulting in a collection that makes the solid look aquatic. Sometimes, going back to the basics is precisely what’s required to make something timeless.

The CAMPER x ISSEY MIYAKE collaboration is available at Glamcult Store (online and offline) from July the 17th.
