It’s Tumblr-era girlhood with a BRAT-era update
Charli just posted a Polaroid of her personalised Converse Chucks and suddenly I’m 14 again, scrawling song lyrics on my shoes with a Sharpie, cutting tank tops into sideboob-revealing halters with armholes down to my waist, showing up to house parties in denim shorts so short the pockets peeked out (with tights, obviously). It’s giving Tumblr girlhood. It’s giving indie sleaze. It’s giving core memory. Especially because she dropped this before even posting about her own wedding.
Her collab with Converse is a love letter to that exact era: flash-heavy, shuttershade-filled, CobraSnake-coded party documentation (our our wannabe Facebook photoalbum with 400 unedited DSLR photos, raw and unfiltered, uploaded the morning after). The campaign, shot by Petra Collins (ultimate tumblr era icon), sees Charli on a hazy beach in a lace-trimmed slip dress that could’ve been pulled from American Apparel, just to make the story full circle.
The shoes are completely customisable, Converse always were, with their canvas shells and teen-accessible price point, but this time they come with new partygirl lore. BRAT-Stamped and Bathroom-Stall Approved: Under-sole options that say PARTYGIRL, a customisable Chuck patch, and a mini carabiner keychain with a tiny key… for the girls hyping each other up in the bathroom stall at 3AM over an envelope. You know who you are.
This drop only lasts 3 days, starting August 5th, aka right after Charli’s birthday. Think of it as a late gift. From your favourite partygirl, to you.
Get the shoes on converse.com from August 5th onwards!
