Though the two are besties, they aren’t afraid to diss each other.
You know that old saying…Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Well, PARTYOF2 is here to change that. The power duo, comprised of rapper SWIM (Coy Stewart) and actress/rapper Jadagrace, just dropped their latest single, FRIENDLY FIRE, with lyricism that embraces daringly vulnerable storytelling. Bringing us back to old school hip hop narratives that 2Pac would be proud of.
The accompanying self-directed music video is set in a fierce presidential race. As a cheering audience rallies for each candidate, PARTYOF2 takes centre stage in campaign tour chic — white button-ups peaking out of studded leather blazers and corsets. Naturally, an Americana palette of red, white, and blue colours the music video as SWIM and Jadagrace argue, fight, and sabotage each other. The front-running candidates lay each other’s vulnerabilities and insecurities bare for all to see, delivering lines touching on complicated relationships with money, fame, attention, and anxiety.
“Ask her when the last time she went to therapy (ask her that)/ And when I say “Go off, ” I ain’t talking to Zoloft (no way)/ Rather feed your fans and family that you blow off (come on)” – SWIM (PARTYOF2)
The two poetically stitch together their 15 years of friendship to… stitching together the pair’s shared 15 years of friendship, just to tear one another to shreds in the next verse. With the political theatre as their stage, PARTYOF2 cleverly draw parallels between rap battles and presidential campaigns, deceiving their audiences and throwing shade at one another all the same.
Since 2020, the two have been slowly dropping tracks under the name PARTYOF2, graduallybuilding momentum online for the release of their debut album. The highly anticipated AMERIKA’S NEXT TOP PARTY drops on October 17th, marking the start of a bolder era for the duo.
