All black and texturally funky
It’s BEAMS’ 50th anniversary! And for that delightful occasion, they did a grand reopening of their Harajuku store, and revisited their collab with Dr. Martens. In 2019 they worked together on the 1461, this time they took on the archival DM’s Lowell silhouette.
BEAMS being BEAMS, you can already figure it had to have their signature ‘crazy pattern’ design. SO – they went in with every single scrap of textured leather they could find and transformed the shoe into a monochrome cacophony of disorganised shiny patent, soft bronx suede, smooth orleans, and croc embossed atlas leathers across the 5 components of the upper. Asymmetrically placed, the shoe gets a quirky air to it, but thanks to the textures all being black, it keeps its promise to be a sleek and sensible pair for contemporary wear. It might be technically workwear-inspired, but probably the only labour the shoes will see is walking to a 7 euro Matcha place. Don’t worry, we’re all complicit.
The Dr. Martens x BEAMS Lowell shoes will be available March 5th at drmartens.com, select Dr. Martens locations, select BEAMS locations, the BEAMS official online shop and select stockists worldwide.
