Naomi Sharon’s “Miss That” is three minutes of hypnosis

And we can’t get it out of our head.

Naomi Sharon invites us into her world once again – one where her soulful vocals, high-tension percussion and recognisable sleek monochromatic universe all collide, but now with dance. Rotterdam’s own, yet undeniably the world’s starlet, Sharon freshly dropped the lead single “Miss That” from her upcoming album set for release in May. The track’s uptempo rhythm pulsates between energetic dancehall, neo-nostalgic soul, whilst keeping the usual infusion of RnB essence. Vocally defiant, Sharon repeatedly delivers  “I’m gonna miss that,” with an engorging mesmerising force, one reserved lust for a lover.

The accompanying visuals obviously lean into Miss Sharon’s cool-toned, 90s futurism inspired and bodycon heavy visual recipe. Imagine this: an empty concrete room, insipid characters bringing in transparent pills, and the colour palette as stone cold as seems appropriate with sterile whites, cleaned-up beiges and soft-hued greys. Unsettling yet seductive, it appears to be an eerie space shielding a dancing Sharon from whatever dystopic world unfolds outside. Yet, it’s in this very vapid environment that she delivers a 3-minute (if you ask us, we yearn for more) choreography that cuts us all short of breath. By channeling the visceral, Sharon seamlessly taps into movement, mind and body in the utmost trance. Styled by the one and only Mowalola, the one-shot choreography achieves a hypnotic effect, one where eyes require to be glued on the screen.

“Miss That” definitely brought us the ultimate dance track (alas, we might not be as good as Naomi but we can always try).
