Glamcult joins forces with State Of Fashion 2026

The State of Fashion Biennale is back! The festival that’s been showcasing alternatives to the current fashion system, returns in 2026 with their new exhibition Available to Promise, at several locations in Arnhem. The title, borrowed from logistics language, also hints to something more uneasy once you think about it for a bit longer. What is promised in fashion, what promises are actually delivered, and who is it all for?

State of Fashion connects fashion with the societal questions and challenges of our time, returning again and again to a leading question: how can fashion and textile contribute to a better world? And this year, Glamcult is honoured to join the Biennale for the opening of the 2026 edition, co-hosting a panel talk that will set the tone for the programme ahead. The collaboration extends the conversation into the room itself, into language, critique, and the shared attempt to make sense of fashion as it is now, rather than how it once presented itself.

This edition of the fashion festival moves away from fashion as finished image and instead looks at everything that makes it possible in the first place: the systems, infrastructures, and invisible movements that shape how clothing is made, circulated, and desired. It treats fashion less as object and more as operating system, a type of machinery that makes that surface possible in the first place: the systems, labour, data flows, supply chains, and infrastructures that you’re already inside of before you even know about their existence.

The exhibition is structured around five pillars: Develop, Distribute, Hype, Experience, and Transform. Across installations, films, garments, performances, and research-based works, the Biennale brings together artists, designers, and collaborators working across different geographies and practices. Rather than presenting answers, it stages conditions, moments where visitors can see how fashion operates beneath its own surface.
