HorsegiirL’s new album is a dopamine-drenched eco-spiritual awakening

“Nature is healing.” So is the club.

HorsegiirL has been touching grass, and the arrival of her debut album “Nature Is Healing” is a not-so-gentle reminder that the rest of us should, too. After all, beneath our screen-glued, thumb-scrolling, cyborg-esque existence, we still come from nature — at least according to the world’s most spiritually awakened half-horse DJ. “I want to remind human beings that they are part of nature,” horsegiirL explained while unveiling the record, a revelation reportedly reached following an ayahuasca trip in Ecuador. Very on brand.

The album is horsegiirL’s most sonically adventurous project to date, galloping through electroclash, gabber, trance, euphoric house and a handful of unexpected downtempo detours. There are delirious love songs dedicated to apples, trance-heavy ecological mantras that the earth is turning — so spellbinding and hypnosis-inducing that it might talk flat-earthers into accepting planetary rotation. Even better, the album is peppered with birdsong, reptilian and insect noises, that we’re thrilled to hear blasted through a Funktion-One at 4am. Beneath all the farmcore absurdity, the message is simple: reconnect with your body, reconnect with the earth, and do it the way Mother Nature intended — by collectively sweating in our natural habitat (aka the club) while hard electro rattles your ribcage.
