French-Congolese Tshegue performs her magnetic track ‘Mupepe’ on Glamcult TV. Taken from her latest project, ‘Psycho,’ the energetic, Detroit-inspired garage rock track blends the fervor of punk with the steady pulse of the club.
Born Faty Sy Savanet in Kinshasa, Tshegue was profoundly shaped by her upbringing in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and France. Following a return to Kinshasa in 2024, the transformative experience of being back in the musical capital laid down the foundations for ‘Psycho.’ Memorable meetings with strong women inspired Tshegue’s desire to infuse the project with a message of liberation. Also displaying a new, softer inclination to her sound, the EP acts as a true laboratory of experimentation where her recognisable punk-club DNA explodes with striking vitality.
