London’s beating heart
London fashion has always been on a ride of its own, and Luxury streetwear brand ARIES ARISE knows exactly where to pull its influences from. In a city shaped by its multiculturalism; movements arise, ideas are born and creativity follows suit. As the birthplace of many a great (Alexander McQueen, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie… to name a few), Creative Director Sofia Prantera is in good company, building her boss-legacy through local references. Expanding the beating heart of her beloved city, it is the 90’s Rave Scene which grips the latest SS/21 collection. A re-rise which we have seen flourish in this 2020-21 dystopian antithesis, it’s clear we are living in a time of escapism through reflection- but little has done it quite as well as ARIES ARISE.
Drawing on that much-loved British trash culture, Prantera has brought to the table her unmatchable CSM refinement featuring the cult classics with an air of poise. The collection boasts recycled fabrics, nodding to the 90’s DIY scene as well as British punk, alongside sweatshirts and sweater vets. However, the collection doesn’t just stop at the classic jersey items. We see a range of denim, mesh as well as an oversized, unisex power suit. Our favourite piece, however, has to go to the rave-wear of all rave-wear: an ankle-length sleeveless, sheer almost iridescent style dress made straight out of your hip Nan’s curtains. The rainbow has emerged with understated motifs covering the garment, and our aries fantasy.
In this post-futuristic season, it’s an unexpected source of refreshment to see the past re-invented, celebrated and appreciated as when it comes to London streetwear, culture comes first.
