The long-time collaborators release their boldest trainer yet.
Just when you think a collaboration cannot get any better, Asics and Kiko Kostadinov drop the new GEL-Kiril trainer and flip your mind (and finances). The retro-classic trainer has been unmistakably revamped by Kostadinov’s design; the unmissable colour, checkerboard paneling, air-bubble and high-shine finish scream Kostadinov all over. The trainer perfectly balances the Japanese sports brand’s aesthetic with a high-fashion flare, which ups-the-ante on streetwear collaborations in the future, saying its farewells to the recurring bulky-trainers of 2019. The new design will be released in the three colours this Saturday, and although we’re obsessed with all of them, nothing quite hits like that green! If this wasn’t great enough, check this out: the advert, created by Tommy Malekoff, is a must-see short film, shot in Kostadinov’s hometown and heavily inspired by Bulgarian folklore. Enjoy the 3-minute celebration of Kiko’s cultural heritage against the modern juxtaposition of the sleek trainer below.
