Buckle Up: The Dekmantel line up IS HERE

2022 takes on 120 acts raging with nothing but immense talent

My mind when I saw the line-up for Dekmantel 2022? Holy Shit. Three years in the making with a two-year halt,  Dekmantel ’22 is set to be the highlight of the summer. The five-day event is taking place from August 3rd-7th and spreads itself across the city’s familiar pit stops from down the IJ River to Amsterdamse Bos. With an encyclopedic line-up only amplifying further the vastness of the festival’s musical fervour, we are excited to give you the rundown, and most importantly… where you need to pull up! From A-Z, four ‘letters’ a week, here we begin.

If you know us, you know our inescapable obsession with community and identity-driven duo, Animistic Beliefs. Rotterdam’s own Marvin Lalihatu and Linh Luu will always bring the set alive, fusing synths and style, innately inspired by their cultural heritage. This is electronic music with a punk perspective, giving Animism to its core: “the attribution of a living soul to plants, inanimate objects, and natural phenomena.” The duo is no stranger to the Dek-platform, so if you’re after deeply elevated electronic vibes, Animistic Beliefs at Amsterdamse Bos (LIVE) on the Friday is your calling.

Anz

London-born, Manchester-based, Anz is the must-see face of the UK electronic scene. For the Soundcloud stalkers we are, her mixes got us through the depths of lockdown, and with her latest EP All Hours now out, we can’t wait to see the queen creator in action. Electronic music with that classic UK Garage and Jungle twist, Anz is the next thing that should be on your listen-lists and Dek-schedule – Playing Amsterdamse Bos on the Friday.

Now, if we’re talking Dek – history, you can’t help but mention DJ/Producer Batu. Having previously headlined Dekmantel 2019 (twice in one weekend), and released one of the most iconic podcasts on their series, Batu has earned his spot in Amsterdamse Bos Sunday. The producer and owner of Timedance record label are making his way from Bristol, to further establish his unique twist on the pillars of Britain’s underground sound. Inventive – to say the least – Batu has been awarded Top 20 by Mixmag and Top A-Z (?) by us, so check it out!

Bringing it back to Amsterdam, it’s our nightlife fave’ Yuri Boselie aka. Cinnaman. Established in the Rush Hour ‘crew’, Cinnaman is hard to define, but if we were to give it a go… house – trap – raw – garage vibes. Offering the full scope, the Amsterdam-based DJ is a Dekmantel staple, returning year after year for a valid reason! This is Amsterdam. This is Dekmantel 2022. Amsterdamse Bos Sunday.

OK. THIS IS A DUO. The São Paolo icons of electronic music are summer in a nutshell. If you’re looking to dance, dance and dance some more, check out the Mamba Negra co-founder and familiar dace. This is rave-ready and rave-dedicated electronic music that dives deep into sound. Described as the ‘temple of experimentation’, this is the set to set your mind alight and witness the future of electronic music.

Another Amsterdam-face, Deniro, is the hard-hitting DJ bringing Detroit-Esque-Style soulful electronics. Having had the crowd moving for the past decade, Deniro has established himself time and time again as a timeless DJ untamed by genre barriers. With a timeless body of work spanning labels from Clone to his very own Tape Records Amsterdam, Deniro is a must-see and must-have Dekmantel experience. Showing up for the party in Amsteradmse Bos on the Friday – see you there.

Dee Diggs IS the party. The connoisseur of NY club culture celebrates house and techno down to their very roots. Known for her House of Diggs paries, she is now a Public Records NY resident, releasing mixes for DAYS with the OG’s at FACT, Honcho and Daisychain. Dee Diggs is going nowhere but up, bringing the absolute VIBES this Dekmantel ’22. Set for the Saturday at Amsterdamse Bos, Dee Diggs can’t, shan’t and won’t be left off our radar.
