COURRÈGES SS23 MENSWEAR

Intimate honesty that always shines through

It’s hot, it’s contemporary, it’s Courrèges SS23 Menswear. In the concise energy of 16 looks, Nicolas di Felice perfectly captures the ethos that founder Andre Courrèges started back in the ‘60s. Using a vintage scuba jacket designed by Courrèges as a starting point, di Felice explains how when he discovered it in the archives he knew there was no reason to reinvent the wheel – and we’re here for his scuba summer. He mixed this with a biker vibe – explaining the moto pants – as the combination evoked nostalgia of him driving to the beach on his motorcycle. It is this spirit that we’ve always loved about the brand, its intimate honesty always shines through in its minimalist designs.

As the lookbook progresses there is notably less and less clothes. In look 16 the model is well, naked, with shoes in hand and clothes draped across their shoulder. Aside from the sexy cuts of the collection, it’s the fine details that amaze. The bondage-like straps across the jackets are meant to act as a shoulder strap – a utilitarian detail that’s our newest obsession. Other highlights are the reworked T-shirts that give both shoulder and lower waist action and the ergonomic “Triangle” bags.
