Daily Paper Returns to Morocco

Bringing vibrancy into the many iterations of ‘nature-inspired’ collections and, as always, telling a story through fashion

Globally uniting communities across borders, Daily Paper stands for creativity, fashion and education. Penetrating their work with this mantra, they have just shared with the world their S/S ’23 collection, titled Under The Same Moon; ‘a guide through North Africa and its rich cultural heritage’. Translating this message into this season’s styles, the collection is said to be an ode to the beauty of conversation and the teachings of nature (and one another). Overall: the notion that knowledge is power, and that generational knowledge should be seen as “a tool of self-elevation” is the collection’s driving inspiration.

With design drawing expressions from North Africa’s artisanal and nomadic roots. Daily Paper visually acknowledges the tribal cultures of Morrocco, and their connection to land and earth, through using jacquard suiting, woven tapestry-style textiles and natural materials. Alongside this, the collection features custom embroidery, elevating the most essential of pieces (including a stunning black tailored suit).

The collection, however, is not only to be in honour of human-based knowledge but also nature’s continuous teachings. Tapping into this web of information, we see a detailed and exquisite illustration of a plant network creating a motif throughout the garments. Highlighting this message with earthly tones (that go beyond the boundaries of beige, moss green and sage), Daily paper has also worked with artist Yasmin Elnour to visually amplify nature’s collaborative journey of community and harmony. Alongside all of these unique pieces to the Daily Paper body of work, we also see the return of the crochet silhouette (yep, the one that took over every style board last year).

This collection is vibrant and astute — bringing vibrancy into the many iterations of ‘nature-inspired’ collections and, as always, tells a story through fashion and photography.
