Divine Earth’s new single shines as a beacon of self-affirmation
In the face of uncertain times, we struggle to grow out of the darkness and stretch our stems towards whatever light we can find. However, in our search for brilliance, we might overlook its most abundant source – the glow that comes from within. Divine Earth, formerly Muva of Earth, transcends to higher levels of self-knowing and feeling in her newest release ‘More Light’. Like the sound of sun rays skimming the surface of a lazy stream, the track lulls you to a place of grounded and surrendered acceptance. According to Divine, the seeds for the track were planted in the dead of winter as a method of manifestation – calling in more love and celebrating the beauty inherent within the ebbs and flows of our own self-perception. Blending ethereal chimes with sultry and earthy twangs of the bass, it is no surprise why The Face would dub her an ‘alternative-jazz superstar’. After the release of her critically acclaimed 2023 debut EP, “Align with Nature’s Intelligence”, the British-Nigerian songwriter has managed to touch the hearts of audiences and artists across the world–embraced and supported by the likes of Erykah Badu, Sudan Archives, Andre 3000, Greentea Peng, and New York rap-legend, Princess Nokia. Nokia’s verse on ‘More Light’ adds a rhythm that reflects the momentum and confidence necessary to stand behind the love that you deserve, foregrounding your own divinity and capacity to create your reality. Ripe with positive affirmations and unafraid to embrace the nature of her doubtful side, ‘More Light’ is just as forgiving as it is hopeful. As the closing lyric of the song states, “how you love reflects your inside” – a call to extend the courtesy you offer others to yourself. A soft girl anthem concocted to bring you back to your roots, put your headphones on and take a walk through the park. Log-off and come back to the only true source of peace we can cultivate in this life – the love and light that is always emitting from inside of you.
