MARNI X Carhartt WIP
Colliding with the joyful, colour-infused universe of MARNI, the elevated workwear brand Carhartt WIP has just announced their 2023’s newest must-have collab’. Bringing on contemporary designs on iconic silhouettes, this ready-to-wear collection transcends the minimalism utilitarian style associated with the brand, and rather, champions prints and bold motifs that adorn the all-round staples from bags and hats to tee’s, jackets, skirts and more. And, if you’re looking to upgrade the famous beige tsunami (which seemingly enveloped all of our wardrobes last year) — then this is your moment!
This collaboration — dubbed ‘Marni Jam‘ — creates a dialogue between what the two houses stand for, and simultaneously enters them into unknown territory, birthing a smooth, artistic twist on their respective visions. Whether it be new material combinations or all-over 70s groove-infused patterns, the essence of both the MARNI and Carhartt WIP identities remains rife. There are several pieces to cast your eyes on, but some special mentions have to go to the sturdy canvas tote bag coming in vivid colourways of black, yellow, white and deep turquoise, a matching baseball-style shirt and bucket hat. To complete the look, the sheepskin reverse Michigan Coat is definitely this winter’s biggest star.
To celebrate this collaboration in true style, their campaign is giving pure joy to its core; featuring the iconic funk artist Bootsy Collins and his wife, Patti, grandson Vincent and the musician Babyxsosa. All images were shot in their home of Cincinnati by the photographic talent Lengua, and are an imaginative tribute to family, music, originality and how the past informs the present.
MARNI and CARHARTT WIP will launch their collaboration in-store at the Marni Montenapoleone flagship during Milan Fashion Week. However, the collection will be released worldwide on January 14, 2023 (and in Japan on the 25th)?.
