Taking New York by storm, Proenza Schouler is reborn.
The year 2021 has quickly developed from the age of ‘fuck 2020’ to a moment of optimism for the world which we begin to rebuild. This moment in time reflects itself through what we feel and what we do; from our music, art, and of course…our clothes. Taking on this new lease of life, Proenza Schouler just revealed their latest collection at NYFW, and the result presented a rebirth of not only mindest but of creativity as the brand never seems to leave the zeitgeist. The collection shares with us the unanimous experience of today’s duality, soft beginnings alongside sharp realities. With structured tailoring, loose knits and a comfort level we currently can’t escape, combining these notions the collection is thoughtfully handcrafted and detailed. Earth-toned, striking silhouettes and sweeping gowns fall graciously down the digital runway as each look brings with it an entirely wearable yet opulent effect. There are too many standouts to mention, but our personal favourite revealed itself in the form of a halterneck firey knit dress combining the vivacity of its crimson wool and deep brown interweave. Maxi’s are back and this fall we see this dress enlightening the streets of New York. Overall, the show conveyed the unreal reality we are consumed by and an unjaded look into the year to come.
