PUSIK is bringing back 2011 in a major way, posting images that would’ve gone triple platinum on Tumblr back in the day. Originally from Latvia, her work carries the unmistakable essence of Eastern Europe, coupled with a visually striking documentation of historically accurate Y2K (naturally, she’s a RACER WORLDWIDE muse).
Derived from a childhood nickname coined by her mother, Pusik is a rather untranslatable term of endearment in Russian. After finishing school, she left her parent’s home to live by herself. She expresses, “From time to time I live in rented apartments, but I always get kicked out for different reasons. So it ended up that there is an option to live in abandoned places”. Where she candidly brings her charm to any empty space, imbuing it with a bold postmodern vision. In precarity, Pusik reimagines the boundaries of what is possible: “There are many advantages, like no rent payment, no rules, and full freedom. That is most important for creativity.” By letting freedom be her only muse, she takes on the passenger princess persona, riding shotgun in an excavator.
