Rick Owens Fall '21

A beach-day to remember ?

Our favourite goth king came through with a very cosy couture collection, and we are absolutely smitten. His womenswear Fall ‘21 is Rick as we know him: strong shoulders and playful textures, with a sleek coating of minimalism and experimentalism (…would it even be an Owens show otherwise?).

Puffer jackets with the length of a bridal veil and punky boots that have a plateau pump as high as the sky (hello legs!) absolutely rocked our world – and let’s not forget the raw, yet the classy choice of location. Sticking to cool shades, the colour tones of the clothes blended perfectly with the rocks and seawater (a combination we are so here for)! Though we can’t ever get enough of Owens quintessential black-on-black layers and 50 shades of grey (pun intended) – the party purple, shimmery blue paillettes and deep emerald greens did not leave unnoticed amidst the seas of soft knits and creamy whites.

Owens’ interpretation on the art of pandemic-proof dressing carries a reviving scent. Playing with face-hugging masks that seamlessly tie into the rest of the outfit, aristocratic vampire shoulders and zebra-like stripes, we can tell Owens has been busy reinventing himself. And even though we can recognise each look undoubtedly as an Owens design, we can’t help but wonder… how does this man manage to stay so cardinally innovative?
