Russell Athletic x CareFree by Damian Malontie

“Real people contributing to culture in an authentic way”

This past week, we finally got a glimmer of what summer has in store. From the brief, (but much appreciated) hint of sunshine to festival announcements and exciting spring-summer collection drops, this upcoming season is set to keep the promise of a hot girl summer once lost. With that promise in mind – Russell Athletic has announced their latest collaboration with CareFree by Damian Malontie. This capsule collection is essentials-only, taking a look at our everyday items and making statements out of staples, in doing so, merging CareFree’s aesthetic with that classic Russell Athletic look. Bringing in a solid range of pieces, from hoodies, t-shirts, sweatpants the coach jacket of all coach jackets, there is a clear focus here on craftsmanship and detailing. Sporting a deep-green to turquoise colourway, the pieces are varsity-inspired, with a skate-style flair. Whether you’re after a staple sweatsuit or vintage-look tee, these garments are easily dressed-up (and down) depending on your mood.

CareFree initially began as merch for Damian Malontie’s all-things music, style, literature and culture blog. However, before long, became an adored (global) brand with a cult following. Growing alongside its mantra, “if you know, you know” (cue: “the girls that get it, get it…”), the brand chooses to avoid the typical social media and production overloads and rather, focuses on timelessness and quality, making this a seamless match with Russell Athletic’s nostalgic and long-perfected (founded in 1902) identity.

The collection will be available at Patta Amsterdam on Monday 4th of April and at selected streetwear stockists across Japan.
