SACAI SS23 MENSWEAR

An absolute gift from the Sacai house

Dear Chitose Abe, thank you. Sacai SS23 Menswear is an absolute gift from the Sacai house. Abe took her signature styles and designs and spliced them up to give us this refreshing yet familiar collection. The newness of it starts with the use of Loro Piana Storm System wool and Thomas Mason cotton – fabrics that are known for their timelessness and anti-trendness. Using these fabrics, she masterfully pulls on classical mens and womens tailoring to create a collection that transcends really any label. Pleats are heavily played with and help give way to fluid movement. The collection is also once again in collaboration with the one and only Graffiti artist Eric Haze. The phrase “As One” is repeated on garments in a mantra-esque way – a saying that is ever-relevant but feels extra real right now.

The clothes oh the clothes, they make us want to train our bank accounts. The sports leaning silhouettes create a sense of informality to normally formal pieces – and we’re obsessed. One of our personal highlights is the constant use of pleated skirts – and the matching pleated jacket in look 1 of course. The knits are also of note, somehow feeling slightly grunge while maintaining sophistication. The pinstripe pants and matching diagonal striped top with a long denim jacket in look 26 is everything.

If you haven’t already, go do yourself a favour and look at the full collection.
