If the classic low-rise had a grungy older sister
G-Star unfolds its second edition of THE DENIM series, this time partnering up with London-based KNWLS to create The DENIM 002. Championing the untreated and raw denim we’ve come to know G-Star for, KNWLS uplifts this ethos, but not without adding their subversive, dark, and abrasive textural spin. KNWLS bridges the feminine and the industrial with their signature corset structures and rough edges. Ignoring the “femininity with a bow” revitalisation riddling the fashion landscape, the brand embraces a girlhood that derives inspiration from the rough and tameless.
These low-waist, straight-leg jeans feature adjustable buckles on the waist and zips along the calves that shapeshift the jeans into a wide leg bootcut, if the mood calls for it. Washed to produce a faded texture, the jeans outright pop – not only by their structural design, but through their bolded, 3D-like seams. Running along the sides and around the knees are thick stitchings that give a motor-inspired look. The way the denim transfers into a darker gradient recalls the smell of engine oil and a dusty garage, showcasing what low-rise jeans would look like if they had a pierced, hot, and angsty older sister. These jeans are perfect for that late-night summer cruising you’ve been thinking about!
THE DENIM 002 is available at selected G-Star stores, g-star.com, and KNWLS.com now!
