Glamcult x The Platform x Dr. Martens’ 14XX EXOSHIELD Boots
Creativity is sacred and should be cherished – and our favourite creative enterprises establish that best as a trinity. Brought together by an all-embracing drive to praise fashion (and its intrinsic manifold facets), Glamcult TV and The Platform celebrated Dr. Martens’ release of their newest model: the 14XX EXOSHIELD Boots. (Sub)culturally, Dr. Martens is the footwear-synonym for defiance and consolidated strive for liberation. At its counter-mainstream core, the Dr. Martens shoe serves as a memento of those who walked before us as frontliners not only of style innovation, but entire niche formations and societal movements. We’re talking about punks, anarchists, anti-establishment activists, and queer people, as few of the many united by the iconic yellow-seamed trademark. However, thinking of clothes as artefacts is almost like declaring them obsolete – and that’s far from being true for our trusted shoemakers. Traditionally (and continuously), Dr. Martens have been coming out with deviceful footwear, breaking new ground with their unadulterated, radical form. Their new 14XX EXOSHIELD Boots are the embodiment of this fusion between progressive beliefs and style. Bulky, durable and futuristic, they hit close to Dr. Martens classic notes, while also expanding into the sweeping realms of alternative fashion.
And who else would look better showcasing the striking boots other than the very owners of The Platform. Vanguards of Amsterdam’s synergic intersection of music, visual arts and fashion, Samin and Djina delve into what brought to life their eccentric hub. They speak cogently of their ermetic approach to fashion, together with its springs and flows of inspiration. In their eyes, fashion is supposed to be circular and intersectional (“God is not only a DJ, but also a fashion and visual artist”!), taking the form of a complex interweb of people and practices. Reaching a fever pitch in their desire for this unity, they propagated this ideal further by giving it, well, a platform.
