Timberland: the boot that only aligns with icons

Enter Skepta, Spike Lee and Kiko Mizuhara

Last night, Timberland hijacked Village Underground for their FW25 campaign launch Advice of an Icon, with Skepta at the centre, naturally.

Let’s be real. After the snoozefest that was NYFW, our wardrobes (and media diets) were in dire need of actual swag. So Timberland passed the mic to the ones who could deliver just that: Skepta, Spike Lee, and Kiko Mizuhara. A casual realignment, icon to icon, for our first stop during London Fashion Week.

Grime took the mic (again). Fashion stood up (again). And everyone inside, from Gabriel Moses to Clint 419, played their part in reminding us why London still moves the needle.
Oh, and Big Zuu, Miss Banks, and Jayahadadream jumped in for surprise cyphers. No biggie.

In the lead-up to the event, Timberland and Balamii Radio (the cooler-than-you South London station) ran a music competition with Novelist and M1onTheBeat mentoring the winner. The prize? A live set at the campaign launch and a chance to join the next generation of grime’s future. Winner Havier Mendoza opened the night with a hard-hitting performance that makes everyone else feel like they’re not working hard enough.

As for the campaign, shot by Gabriel Moses, it strips the brand back to the bones. No props. No sets. No overly conceptualised art direction. Just the boot, wheat-toned, water-repellent, weirdly versatile, and the people who’ve carried its legacy for decades.

It’s still here. Still iconic. Still looks hard as hell.
