Dialogue is an alluring shared eulogy to the act of creation.
In fashion, when someone speaks along the lines of “avant-garde” and “legendary”, it’s more than likely in connection to Yohji Yamamoto. Subsequently, when one thinks of photographic complexity and rich legacy, Sarah Moon could easily be the first thought. Dialogue, the recent publication merging some of the two artists’ previously unpublished works, is what we love to see the most in the arts – a work of unalloyed synergy, a convergence of verve and loyalty to craft, bleeding into a singular, tangible piece.
True to its title, the book introduces itself through a conversation between Yamamoto and Moon on the suspended moment – the gap between creating and observing, on their shared appreciation for each other, and their unceasing pursuit of novelty. Yohji Yamamoto’s favorite words, both in English and Japanese, permeate the pages, alongside Sarah Moon’s enigmatic portraitures and sartorial frames. The fashion book, through minimalism and brevity, reveals an artistic complicity of over 30 years.
The book officially comes out in stores starting February 27th and is currently available for pre-order.
