Pieter Numan’s ‘No Love Lost’– A Visual Testament to Subcultures

In times like these, where the future seems unsure and dark, subcultures emerge to shine a light of hope. Formerly known (and loved by the Amsterdam scene) as Piet Oosterbeek, Pieter Numan's new book 'No Love Lost' celebrates the importance of countercultures – documenting their existence through photography.

Live Hard, Love Harder

The end of the world is impending upon us – we can all feel it in the air. Realised by a group of friends, Hardeman’s latest editorial summons this sense of apocalypse in great taste. For their latest collection, titled Live Hard Love Harder, the brand looks towards elevating their signature take on reconstructed denim and leather looks through playful cut-outs and exaggerated volumes.

Out Now: Letters To A Future Palestine

A forceful testament to resilience and unity, Letters to a Future Palestine is an uncompromising 19-track compilation that unites Palestinian musicians and international allies from SWANA and beyond. Each track opens a potent sonic universe, where cultural histories intertwine and exist in their full freedom. Curated by Nene H and Samira, this project serves as 'a postcard' from a thriving, liberated Palestine, aspiring to restore the cultural renaissance disrupted over the last century. 'It is a powerful statement against the portrayal of oppression as the sole narrative,' writes Nene H.

Free Palestine Now!

The suffering and excessive violence endured by the Palestinian population over the past seventy-five years has only recently become visible to much of the world. Activists are attempting to address the injustice, activating diverse subcultures – from crip to queer – to step out of their own bubbles and advocate for the Palestinian cause. In many countries, structural efforts are being made to silence those who speak out. We therefore want to do the opposite: highlight the artists and activists who continue to speak out despite feelings of powerlessness.

Cassyette returns with a pop-punk anthem Friends In Low Places

The nu-gen alternative pop-punk icon Cassyette teases us with a new single release, Friends In Low Places – a cathartic anthem dedicated to the uplifting power of friendship. Having caught up with the punk it-girl amidst her tour a couple of months back, we're excited to see (and listen to) the unfolding of her highly anticipated album, This World Fucking Sucks. ‘Friends in Low Places is the last song I added to the album,' Cassyette shares. 'It felt like the final piece of the puzzle after writing a record about times of hardship, while grieving my dad, getting clean after struggling with addiction and ending a long term relationship.'

Namilia SS25 feat. Ed Hardy: the climax of Y2K

'Why does pop culture push us to the breaking points for recognition, attention, and some kind of belonging?' is one of many questions Namilia asks for its SS25 'Good Girl Gone Bad' show that poignantly explores the toxic lifecycle of fame. The Berlin-born label – and a Glamcult Store babe – returns to its home for BFW, and announces a collaboration with the epitome of a Y2K icon, Ed Hardy. While the collection feels like a natural progression of Namilia's fierce take on the 00s style imbedded in their DNA (think graphic baby tees, tight-skin racer leather sets, cut-up barely-there mesh, and trucker hats), the message extends beyond a mere glorification of the era.

The Second Woman: a dizzying 24-hour performance

The Second Woman by Nat Randall and Anna Breckon is an experimental play questioning gender roles and power dynamics through an astonishing celebration of unscripted human interaction. Embodying a hybrid of cinema, theatre, and improvisation, the act spills over 24 hours, within which one scene is repeated precisely a hundred times. Touring from the UK to Canada to Taiwan, the show finally lands in Amsterdam for an unmissable performance starring Georgina Verbaan.

Walter Van Beirendonck's Collaboration with G-Star: A Fashion Circus

In an unexpected yet delightfully romantic setting, Walter Van Beirendonck’s latest show opened in a flower garden accompanied by the whimsical sounds of fair music. The frogs croaking in chorus seem to be paid actors. This picturesque backdrop set the stage for a collection that harmoniously combined avant-garde design with playful, clown-like elements, all while heavily inspired by the iconic silhouette of Charlie Chaplin.  Frivolous as it first seems, it quickly becomes clear this is not all about happiness – rather, it’s about playing pretend, forcing ourselves to find that happiness and bliss in a world where there's more and more extremes (and extremists) to worry about, all while trying to get through the day on a semi-peaceful note. In his words: "Playing pretend and believing that all we do can make a difference. That way of thinking led me to the idea of the clown. The familiar happy-sad figure trying to unite the conflicting sides of the circus.”

Tra Fasi: a documentary spotlighting Suriname's hidden punk scene

Surinamese for 'in a different way', Tra Fasi is a much-needed celebration of the country's underground and its creative forces that have remained under the radar. A project still in the making, led by an independent filmmaker Charity Sumter, the sun-soaked documentary follows Shavero – a versatile punk musician and event organiser at the forefront of the alternative scene. The story goes way deeper than Shavero's artistic journey, though; it's a an ode to the whole subculture, its authentic vibrancy, resilience and devotion to limitless self-expression.
