A Must-See Moment in Photography!

99 Iconic Images at the Gallery of Honour of Dutch photography: a hot spot exploring the radical moments and transformations through 180 years of photography. Het Nederlands Fotomuseum is one of the first to lift photography from the past into a contemporary situation, where it thus reflects on the heritage of photographs and the future forms they may take. In a series of photographs from daguerreotypes to staged photos, it tells the story of Dutch photographic heritage and development from 1842 to the present. Exciting innovations and bubbles of creatively voluptuous ideas take root in this exhibition. 99 Images and one empty frame. A frame to let the viewer add in their subjectivity. What has been left out of the picture? A must-see collection exploring complex histories and playful techniques, below we share our favorite photographers to absorb while you’re there.

GLAMCULT SELECTS: SOFT CLIP

Playfulness, gentle distortion, and tactility are the three pillars for SOFT CLIP, the freshly born, mischievous DJ/producer duo based in Utrecht. Individually known as Sebastiaan (puurvuur) and Thomas (Gele Lambo), the two never sit around waiting for inspiration. Firm believers of the grind, the magic flows from their hands effortlessly when they’re together - and now this fearless team is eager to take their musical journey to the next step.  Heavily influenced by Nick León, UK bass, catchy hooks and reggaetón, the two come from completely different backgrounds and complement each other’s musical knowledge like no other. Think: big low-ends flirting with sparkly melodies, cute vocals jumbled up with a deep bass, turning the whole into a rich, fun, and gritty mix of their combined expertise. They will be debuting tonight at Glamcult Selects, and we cannot wait to hear what they’ve cooked up for us. Read below about how they get to work, their first track, and their favorite post-gig food! <3

Glamcult meets Maeve

You never know what to expect when you try to step into an artist's mind – especially, when their sound is as eclectic and multi-layered as Maeve's. So, as the London-based musician lets us into her home filled with larger-than-life art pieces and towering stacks of books crowning a grand piano, a fuller picture beings to form. Constantly morphing her interpretation of pop into hauntingly alluring musical universes, Maeve first caught the audience's ear (and eye) with her EP Caravaggio in a Corner Store, and is now continuing to forge her own path within and beyond the genre. With references from Midsommar to Funkadelic, Maeve's artistry is full-bodied and intriguing, always reflecting her immaculate attention to detail and quick-witted vision. Compelled to learn more, we sat down with the artist in the space of magic-making (namely, her home studio) to chat about growing up in the Cayman Islands, inspirations and current projects – with her Great Dane as an honourable guest.

FLORE FLORE X CARMEN!

Last Sunday, a warm honey combed space for love, monochrome hues, cotton and sharing opened its doors! The ‘classics brand for the modern woman’, Flore Flore, is now sold at Carmen Amsterdam. Flore Flore has expanded its wings from being an Amsterdam-based shop to a globally sought after brand. Founded by Florian van Zuilen, Flore Flore is a baby born in 2021, carrying a little bit of Copenhagen and NY fashion from van Zuilen’s work with major brands there: Diane von Furstenberg and GANNI. Her concept is chic basics. Flore Flore bridges comfort and movement within clothing, with classic silhouettes and tailored edges. She is the third generation woman in her family to work in fashion and draws from her mother, grandmother and female friends as a source of propelling inspiration and revitalisation.
